Rulebook

  1. You can participate solo or in a duo.
  2. Spider is open for students of all branches and all years. Even student from non-engineering background can participate.
  3. Participants can team up with different branches. Example: Participant of Production & IT branch can form a team.
  4. Each participant / team must provide a name through which they will be referred or contacted in future. In case you fail to provide a team name, you will be assigned one and will be send to you through your registered mail id.
  5. This event is about front development so your code must be strictly in HTML, CSS & JAVASCRIPT. Use of libraries like Bootstrap and jQuery are allowed.
  6. Your work must be 100% genuine. Plagiarism is not allowed. Doing so will lead to disqualification.
  7. Use of SASS and Material UI is prohibited.
  8. The Event will be conducted in 3 stages.

    Stage 1: Creating a Website

    Stage 2: SEO & Article Writing

    Stage 3: Building a Simple Web App

  10. All participants must register during the first stage.
  11. You will be judged at each of the three rounds. Participation in all the three stages is compulsory.
  12. You must follow our Facebook and Instagram pages.
  13. You must follow * sponsors handle * to avail the winning prizes.

STAGE 1: Creating a Website

  1. Register yourself.
  2. Create a website with at least 3 pages.
  3. It must have a navbar and an error page (not included in 3 pages).
  4. One page must contain a unique content. Show us one thing which fascinates you.
  5. At least one of the pages must have an interlinking within itself.
  6. One link should be embedded which when clicked upon should take to ISTEBITS.COM (or the website of our sponsor).
  7. Host your website in AWS or Firebase or any platform of your choice.
  8. Send us your code and necessary file in zip format to istebitsbh01@gmail.com.

Don’t worry if this is new for you. You will be constantly in touch with our team who are dedicated to help you.

STAGE 2: SEO

  1. Post an article by choosing one topic from given problem statement and provide an analysis or solution on the same. You can also choose your own problem statement.
  2. It will be judged based on how well you performed onsite SEO on your articles and website and quality of your content.
  3. Article must be your original work.
  4. Duration 4 days.

STAGE 3: Building a Simple Web App

In this stage you will have to design a simple web application though HTML, CSS and JAVASCRIPT. It can be as simple as

  1. Taking input from the user and displaying on the webpage.
  2. An array of images which when clicked upon gets deleted.
  3. A simple to-do list. Working tic-tac-toe. Any app of your choice.
  4. Duration: 5 days

How To Participate

  1. Register yourself with registration link provided below __________ .
    (Link will be shared at the start of event).
  2. Submit your code in zip format by mailing us at istebitsbh01@gmail.com. (tutorial and correct format will be provided)
  3. Upload your code on free services like AWS, Google Firebase, github, …. , etc.

    Refer tutorial for more information.

    Aid will be provides throughout the event by our technical team.

    Do not buy expensive domain and hosting for this event.

  4. Update your code and write articles for Stage 2.
  5. Update your website with a simple app for Stage 3.

Judging Criteria

  1. Whether it is completely front end or not!
  2. Originality.
  3. Appearance.
  4. How well / aligned (use better word) your code is written!
  5. Interlinking within same page.
  6. Whether relevant links open in another window or not.
  7. Use of optimized images.
  8. Mention of ISTEBITS / SPONSERS page in your code.
  9. Onsite SEO of your code and articles.
  10. How dry your code is!
  11. Functionality of web app. (better and clear words)
